About me

Me

I am a Senior Research Fellow in the Sheffield Alcohol Research Group (SARG), part of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at the University of Sheffield. I’ve worked in SARG for almost a decade, looking at the impact of alcohol policies on drinking behaviour, health and the wider economy. My background is in maths and health economics, but my work in ScHARR has primarily been focused around the design, development and adaptation of complex health economic models and their use to appraise key policy questions. I have a strong interest in health inequalities and understanding how public health policies can impact on these. I also have a strong interest in data visualisation and the use of visual tools to engage people with science. In 2020 I have spent a lot of time looking at COVID-19 data and trying to make sense of the pandemic and its impact in a visual way.

My research

Outside of work, I enjoy baking and eating cakes, cycling up unreasonably steep hills and arguing with strangers on the internet.
